July 1988: a reprise of HMAS TORRENS [II]'s last public appearance - Geoff Eastwood.

6965. On a gloomy wet July winters day, the RAN's last Type 12 destroyer escort HMAS TORRENS [II] has an honourary berth at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Sydney's Circular Quay. Already stripped of some armament and fittings, she is retiring after 27 years of service. This Geoff Eastwood image is a return to a special series we did on TORRENS for ship modelmakers way back in the Photostream, which has just been revised, and which describes everything on the ship in intimate detail, including visitors. With a guide employed to provide expert commentary at all stages, we feel Photostream viewers would again find the revised edition 'instructive' - in fact it is 'instructive' all the way. The start can be visited again at Entry 1910, here: www.flickr.com/photos/41311545@N05/4638972492/in/photolis... The paint job, Entry 1911 www.flickr.com/photos/41311545@N05/4638496643/ We think one cannot keep scrolling froma 'search' Entry like that in the new Flick Arrangements, so the whole series is presently far down on Page 50, which is here: www.flickr.com/photos/41311545@N05/page50/ This Photo: Geoff Eastwood, sent for the Photostream.
