6786. Bound for the 1956 South East Asian Treaty Organisation [SEATO] Exercise ALBATROSS, the Type 15 fast anti-submarine frigate HMAS QUEENBOROUGH and her sisters QUICKMATCH and QUADRANT refuelled from HMAS SYDNEY [III] before the ships reached Darwin. When refuelling was delayed, one of the frigates was down to 30 per cent capoacity before taking on 70 tons of fuel from SYDNEY.

Photo: RAN, it appeared with HMAS SYDNEY [III]'s Report of Proceedings RoP] for Sept. 1956 , held by the Australian War Memorial, with thanks to Contributor Ashley Moore for guiding us to this and other Exercise ALBATROSS photographs. The images are publicly released and out of copyright.
