Guy Warrior Car Transporter M-08b

"The M8B Guy Warrior Car Transporter was replacing the outdated A2 Car Transporter in 1964 and was extremly succesful.

After the old A2 Car Transporter [Bedford Car Transporter]

from the 50s [introduced 1957] was getting to small for most new models in the 1-75 series finally in April 1964 a larger, more powerful successor, the M8 Guy Warrior Car Transporter became available.

Turquoise green tractor, orange trailer with "Farnborough Measham / Car Auction & Collection" inscription on the sides. This model was a huge seller.

After the end of the Major Pack serie in 1966 this model was taken over into the King Size range in the same colour scheme, the baseplate inscription was simply changed to "K-8".

Major Pack Series 1958-1967

"The "Major Pack" series was introduced in late 1958 und lasted untill 1966 when the remaining models were converted into the "King Size" range.

At the end of the 50`s several larger models which could not be integrated into the standard 1-75 range anymore were developed, for these the new "Major Pack" series was introduced in late 1958.

In the beginning the scale was similar to those used for the 1-75 series but later these "Major" models got bigger and bigger and eventually all remaining models ( except the M- 9 ) were transferred into the "King Size" range in 1966.

To avoid confusion all models in this range had the prefix "M" preceding the model number."

Guy Warrior real truck [1958-1964]

"Guy launched their Invincible Mk2 and Warrior Mk 2 models at the 1958 Commercial Vehicle Show.

More powerful than ever, they not only offered a versatile range with a choice of modern diesel engines but they featured one of the most outstanding cab designs ever to be seen on a British commercial vehicle.

Angular, yet elegant, the forward leaning cab had panoramic windscreens and spacious accommodation with luxurious seating. It was sound and heat insulated and offered refinements such as an electric shaver, radio and cigarette lighter."

"In 1960 the 'Warrior II' was introduced. There were two versions, the 6-wheeled 'Warrior Light 6' with 3 axles, and the 8-wheeled 'Warrior Light 8' with 4 axles. Guy claimed that the vehicles had the largest payload for the lightest chassis, in the weight class, and also the lowest prices. The vehicles soon became very popular."

"In 1964 The 'Otter', 'Invincible' and 'Warrior' dropped and the 'Big J' introduced."
