Detroit

Founded on July 24, 1701 by French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. Cadillac named the settlement Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit after the French Secretary of the Navy under Louix the 14th.

Sainte-Anne-de-Détroit was founded two days later and is the second-oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic parish in the USA.

In 1920 Detroit was the 4th largest City by population only behind NYC, Philly & Chicago. While the city has lost a lot of population since then, the Metro Detroit area is second only to Chicago in the Midwest & #14 in the nation.

IMHO Detroiters are some of the nicest and most generous people you will ever meet. The history & diverse culture of the City is something that few other major cities truly capture.

Some of the finest museums you will ever visit reside in the Metro Detroit area including the Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Historical Museum & Henry Ford Museum to name only a small portion of the award winning museums.
