Rock Island - GP7 Chop Nose #1275 - HO Scale Bachmann - Custom Detailed, Kit-Bashed & Painted.
This model replicates a unit that was originally delivered as a high hood GP7 #1275 in November 1952.
It was rebuilt in 1965 after a wreck @ Marseilles, IL wreck. Since the cab and short hood were damaged beyond repair RI purchased a GP20 cab & short hood to use in the rebuild.
It was originally repainted after rebuild in the Sargent stripe scheme, and was repainted in this scheme sometime around mid 1970.
It was once again overhauled and repainted in Bankruptcy Blue @ Silvis, IL shops in December 30, 1976, as #4424 "John W Barriger III".
It was sold to Crandic in 1981 as #97 and was sent to Chrome Locomotive in 1986. It was then purchased by IAIS as #400 in January 1988.
