Michigan State Police - 1957 Ford Custom 300 (Resto Replica)(SS Front 3-4) @ Selfridge Air National Guard Base Open House Harrison Twp, MI - August-20-2017 - K. Crawley

This very accurate with period police equipment 1957 Ford Custom 300 was done as a tribute by retired MSP Trooper Sgt. Del Zimmerman.

Sgt. Zimmerman, purchased the car in 2013 from a seller in Texas. Zimmerman and 45 students at the Saginaw Career Complex completed the majority of the restoration.

The 1957 Ford Custom 300 was built specifically for police fleet needs by the Ford Motor Co., according to the Michigan State Police. It came with a re-designed body for safety and was the first to use seat belts as part of the safety package as standard equipment, the state police said.

The 1957 model also coined the name "Police Interceptor" for the 312 cubic inch engine that was placed in the vehicle, according to the state police, and it was the last MSP patrol vehicle to use a flashing light on the roof before changing to a rotating light.

The 1957 Ford Custom 300 joins the MSP Historical Fleet including a 1937 Ford, 1975 Plymouth Fury, 1991 Chevy Camaro, 1992 Ford Mustang, 1995 Chevy Caprice and 2010 Ford Crown Victoria.
