Robot is a Remotec Inc. (Northrup Grumman) Andros F6A Remote Ordnance Neutralization System (RONS) aka Unmanned Remote Bomb Disposal Robot. Which if my research is correct was introduced in 2006.
The MSP at this time also utilized a Remotec Inc. Wolverine which is a much larger tracked robotic vehicle. As of 2017 the MSP had a fleet of 14 bomb robots.
The Bomb Squad consists of 15 members assigned to seven regional teams thru out the state of Michigan. Bomb Squad teams are part of the Michigan Regional Response Team Network (RRTN) which was established to provide quick response capability in every region of the state to WMD/Terrorism incidents.
First Lt. Michael Shaw of the MSP Second District said the MSP bomb squad was established in 1970 following several political bombings. It’s one of the top 10 largest bomb squads in the nation. Much like their famous vehicle evaluations the MSP Bomb Squad often tests & evaluates new bomb squad tech sharing their experience with law enforcement agencies nationwide.
