Blindingly obsolete -[ CrAzY Tuesday ]-

An old nuArc carbon-arc lamp for graphic arts use, such as screen printing and lithography. Before xenon and metal halide arc lamps were adopted for the purpose, the carbon arc was used not only for its brightness, but also because it was a good source of ultraviolet light needed for the exposure process.

 

Yes, this lamp still works, but it is now but a crazy curiosity piece acquired long ago for the heck of it. I suspect its former owner did not use it that much because it had to be used in a well-ventilated area.
