The "Taffarel Road" cuts through the ancient Cansiglio, the second largest forest in Italy, for many kilometers. This forest used to be also known as “Gran Bosco da Reme di San Marco” – a grand name that makes a clear reference to the fact that the government of the Republic of Venice obtained from here the wood it needed for its naval fleet.
