Haytor tramway
Built in 1820, this granite tramway was built on a gentle slope from Haytor on Dartmoor to the Stover canal near Newton Abbot. Wagons were loaded with granite from the quarries and ran the 10 miles under gravity falling 1300 feet. The empty wagons were hauled back by teams of heavy horses. This section is in Yarner wood.
