P&LE 2814 West at Beaver PA May 1983 by Bob Malinoski
I only took a handful of P&LE pictures when they were around because I focused more on quantity on roads like Conrail. Back then, I thought it was insane to "waste" time on the P&LE or B&LE when I was in the Pittsburgh area. I did manage to ride the last P&LE commuter train along with my dad and a good friend of ours (and great photographer), Jim Marcus, that passed away several years ago. The day we rode it, he pointed out that there was a great shot off the telephone pole at the station at Beaver PA. My dad climbed it for a shot of the commuter train, but I never got to try it. When I was looking through a Malinoski box, low and behold...he was up on that very pole for a freight! I guess this is real "pole hugger" shot.! If only we could go back in time.....
