Another image of Mount Kirkjufell -‘Church Mountain’, from the second of two incredible nights there at the end of a tour of Iceland with David Clapp and Antony Spencer (hugely recommended – without question the best in the business) The location itself is well photographed to say the least, likely on the itinerary of most trips to Iceland. To be fair it is ridiculously photogenic from all angles, and it doesn’t just photograph well, you find yourself shaking your head looking through and over the camera at how astonishing it is. It also provided an incredible centrepiece, rather than foreground interest, for shooting the Aurora.

I am planning my return to Iceland for later in the year and will do everything possible to chase the lights round the island, and console myself with the world’s most stunning landscape if I don’t get lucky and see another defined display! I would recommend anyone debating a trip there just to do it.
