This large double storey villa in Ballarat’s main boulevard, Sturt Street, was built around the 1860s or 1870s.
The villa has a splendid bay window that protrudes proudly towards the road. Designed in Victorian Free Classical style, the house has many ornamental features, including gothic style coumns around the widnows, recessing beneath the eaves and bricks with decorations carved into them. The front verandah has elegant cast iron lacework in a fan like pattern. The roof is made of slate and features original bands of decoration. Built of polychromatic bricks, uses them to great effect, making the walls and window surrounds real features of the villa.
The former residence, within close proximity to the Ballarat Base Hospital, is currently used by a number of doctors and specialists as a consulting suite.
