The Little Silver Seahorse
“Just like the Little Seahorse, you can choose to be courageous. Always speak up for what you want, even if you feel nervous asking for help. When you are brave and ask for assistance, you have the opportunity to make new friends. The world becomes a happier and friendlier place for everyone.”

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" the 25th of July is "horses & seahorses", so when I read the theme, although I have many miniature horse statues I could photograph, I chose seahorses because they have unique characteristics. They are monogamous and they carry their young. I also chose seahorses because of their symbolic meanings of strength, perseverance, and love. They are also appreciated for their beauty and the wonder they inspire, not least of all by me! In this case, I only have one solitary seahorse, a silver brooch decorated with crystals that was given to me as a gift by a very dear friend. Whenever I wear this brooch on my lapel, I always give my seahorse a gentle pat and think of her. A little while ago I went fabric shopping at a specialist shop that has a particularly wonderful range of unusual fabrics that they sell by the quarter metre (just enough for my purposes). Amongst other pieces I bought this brilliantly hand painted blue pleated wool crepe which I have seemed the perfect way to accessorise my seahorse brooch, as it looks rather like the ocean. I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!
