Paddington, Scout and the 2025 Easter Egg Hunt 2.
PADDY: "Hullo Scout and Rosie!"
SCOUT and ROSIE: "Hullo Paddy!"
PADDY: "Are you finding many Easter Eggs?"
SCOUT: "Oh yes we are, Paddy, and we are filling our Easter baskets!"
ROSIE: "But only with pink Easter Eggs, Paddy!"
SCOUT: "Because pink Easter Eggs taste the best," *Nods emphatically.* "Don't they, Rosie?"
ROSIE: "Indeed they do, Scout!" *Nods emphatically too.*
SCOUT: "It looks like you have found an Easter Egg too, Paddy!"
ROSIE: "A big one too, Paddy!"
PADDY: "Indeed I have, Scout and Rosie! I am usually the last to find an Easter Egg, but it seems this year that I am one of the first! It is such a big egg: far too big for me, so I shall share it with mijn beste vriend Oleg. I know that he will enjoy that!"
SCOUT and ROSIE: "Congratulations, dear Paddy!" *Clap paws in delight.*
PADDY: "Hullo everyone and everybear! On behalf of Scout, Cousin Paddington, Bogart, Jago, Daisy-Maud, Rosie, Cornelia, Orson, Danny Boy, Algie, Bertie, Nanuk, Emmett, Edgar, Benjamin, Flock, Sapphire, Pearl, Prince Maurice, Freddy, Duckie, Daddy and myself I would like to wish all of our Flickr friends and followers a very happy Easter! May the day be filled with lots of fun, laughter and a chocolate Easter egg... or two! We are sending you all lots of special Easter big little bear hugs and snuffly kisses!"
Paddy has managed to share my thoughts most eloquently. A very happy Easter to you all!
My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.
He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Rosie is Scout's cousin, because like Scout, she is a free trade knitted bear from Africa. She was made in Kenya by one of the Kenana Knitters, Martha Wanjira. She is made from home spun and dyed wool. She was a gift to me from two very dear friends, including the one who gave Scout to Paddy.
The baskets that Scout and Rosie are using are vintage 1950s thick paper examples which I acquired not long after Easter 2024. The body of the basket is all one piece that is folded together and slipped through cuts at the side. The handle is a separate piece that fits through slits at either end. I love their cute printed characters!
