Christmas Traditions
I am one of those people who really enjoy Christmas. I enjoy it for many reasons, not least of all for some of the traditions I have, some of which go back generations.
Two traditions I love to participate in during the festive season are writing Christmas cards and singing Christmas carols. Even as I type this, I have "Carols at King's College" playing on my stereo!
A very dear friend who enjoys photography as much as I do, and knows that I collect beautiful and vintage pieces, gave me a wonderful selection of antique ribbons, buttons, buckles, lace and other fine notions for Christmas.
Amongst the treasures I was given were some beautiful vintage style imitation stamps with a Christmas theme including Father Christmas, Christmas bells, pinecones and even an angel, all taken from old Christmas postcards and Christmas cards. A few months ago, the same friend who gave me the stamps and I were shopping at a specialist paper shop where I bought some "Dances" paper printed by Rossi Papers in Italy, originally printed in 1931. I thought the beautiful stamps (which are highlighted with glitter) and the musical paper represented the two traditions of writing Christmas cards and singing Christmas carols which I so enjoy.
