Wither Away so Early, Little Red Riding Hood?
"Good day to you, Little Red Riding Hood." said the wolf, licking his lips.
"Good day to you, Mister Wolf." Little Red Riding Hood replied as she dropped a curtsey as her mother had taught her to do.
"Wither away so early, Little Red Riding Hood?" he asked, trying his utmost to not bare his teeth and scare the little girl.
"To my Grandmother's." said she, quite unafraid.
"Oh?" said the wily wolf, his eyes lighting up. "And why pray are you visiting her on such a fine day? Surely you would rather be playing with your friends in the village."
"My Grandmother is sick and weak, and I am taking her some sweet biscuits, a pot of butter and some wine with my mother’s compliments. We baked this morning, and they should give her strength."
" Little Red Riding Hood, just where does your grandmother live? Is it a great way off?" said the wolf with a smile.
"Oh, yes!" said Little Red Riding Hood. "Her house is a good quarter hour from here in the woods, under the three large oak trees. There's a hedge of hazel bushes there. You would easily know it."

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 19th of August is "only one object", which left me with a myriad of choices, as I have so many different and interesting objects around the house. The hardest part was choosing which one object to photograph! In the end I settled on a more recent acquisition of mine: a beautiful blue leather child’s hatbox from the 1920s which features Little Red Riding Hood embossed upon it in vibrant coloured paint. It has a brass metal handle encased in leather and a single buckle at the top unclips easily to reveal a n Art Deco floral patterned interior. The unknown manufacturer produced a whole range of these child sized pieces of luggage featuring faerie tale and nursery rhyme characters including The Three Bears, Mary Quite Contrary, and the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe as well as Little Red Riding Hood. I hope you like my choice out of all my single objects, and that it makes you smile!
