Scout's Christmas Wish 2.
PETER: "I'm sure that I hid from Oleg in a cupboard, not the snowy garden."
ROSIE: "Oh! My bottom is suddenly cold!"
PETER: "Is that you mijn liefste prinses Rosie? What are you doing hiding in the cupboard?"
ROSIE: "Mijn prins Peter! I was just going to ask what you were doing in my bedroom!"
PETER: "But this isn't the cupboard I was hiding from Oleg in, mijn liefste prinses Rosie. Oleg and I were playing hide-and-seek."
ROSIE: "And I was sitting on my bed, thinking of you, mijn prins Peter, but this isn't my bedroom either. Where are we?"
SCOUT: "Surprise! Surprise mijn beste vriend Peter and Cousin Rosie! I made a wish for us all to be able to play together in the snow, and," *Looks around.* "Here we are! Now we can build a snowbear, and play hide and seek together."
ROSIE: "How did this happen, Scout?"
SCOUT: "Well, I was under our Christmas tree at home, looking at the presents growing beneath it, when I came across two Christmas Faeries! They said I could make a wish, so I made a wish for us all to be able to play together in the snow!"
PETER: "Oh wow! Christmas Faeries! That is soooo exciting!" *Jumps up and down with delight.* "Oh thank you, mijn beste vriend for making such a special wish for all of us!"
ROSIE: "Oh yes! Thank you for including me, Scout."
SCOUT: "Well, you and Peter and prince and princess. I could not wish for Peter only and not include you!"
PETER: "Can we build a snow castle for you, me and mijn liefste prinses Rosie, Scout?"
SCOUT: "What a wonderful idea, mijn beste vriend!"
ROSIE: "Oh there is plenty of snow about, and it is just starting to snow. I wish we had a pretty pink umbrella to keep us dry."
*A pink umbrella appears by magic in Peter's hand.*
PETER: "Wow! This place must be magic!"
SCOUT: "Come on, let's all go build a castle and a snowbear, and then we can play hide-and-seek, and I bet if we wish for it, we will get something delicious to eat and drink when we have built the castle and snowbear!"
PETER and ROSIE: "Hoorah!" *Jump up and down with excitement.*
SCOUT, PETER and ROSIE: *Run into the snow to start playing.*
My bears Paddy and Scout have made very good friends with two bears in Holland called Peter and Oleg (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577154558...) and their Mummy (www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/) . Peter and Scout are very similar and have become best friends. Peter loves Rosie and Rosie loves Peter, so they have become prince and princess to one another.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Rosie is Scout's cousin, because like Scout, she is a free trade knitted bear from Africa. She was made in Kenya by one of the Kenana Knitters, Martha Wanjira. She is made from home spun and dyed wool. She was a gift to me from two very dear friends, includng the one who gave Scout to Paddy.
Thank you Marian Kloon (on and off) for the use of Peter's photo in my collage of images.
