A Happy New Year to You!

The theme for the 1st of January 2021 “Looking Close… on Friday” is “Happy New Year”.

I know that 2020 is a year many of us would rather forget, however I'd like to end the year as I started, on a positive note. There have been many wonderful things that have happened in the unprecedented year that was 2020, and some of those things I have found on Flickr this year including beautiful images, lovely stories and connections with old and new friends. I'm grateful for all of those things and more besides. Thank you for the smiles and laughs! I sincerely hope that you find something to smile and laugh about the New Year's Eve.

I'd like to wish all my Flickr friends and followers the very best for the New Year. Thank you for your support, encouragement and comments this year. Thank you also for all your wonderful photographs!

May your New Year's Eve be a festive one, however you are celebrating this year, and if you are fortunate enough celebrate it with others, may those others be people you love and who love you. May 2021 be a happy, artistic and prosperous year for you all.

This clock has seen through more than a century and a half of New Year's Eves. Made around 1867, it is a black japanned American Seth Thomas mantle clock with ormolu mounts, columns and marbleised leather cappings. After so many years, he still keeps good time and requires winding only once every eight days.
