The Mardi Gras Connection

These glamorous beads are genuine Mardi Gras beads that have come to me all the way from New Orleans. A gift to me from a very dear friend in Alabama who bought a cottage in New Orleans just to enjoy Mardi Gras, she tells me that these beads are very special. Parade riders throw these necklaces from their floats to people into the crowds that line the seven mile route. However you usually have to know someone to be thrown these, as parade riders pay for everything that they throw which makes it an expensive night. They wouldn’t throw these to just anyone. I am very grateful to have been gifted these very special beads.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a weekly challenge called “Snap Happy”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each week, and the image is to be posted on the Monday of the week.

This week the theme, “connections/connected” was chosen by David, DaveSPN.

I chose these beads because of course they are connected together, but also, as red stilletto pointed out to me, these represent a connection between two Flickr friends who live worlds and hemispheres away from one another. I really liked that idea, so here they are: bright and fun filled for you to enjoy!
