47360 6D99 Brocklesby Junction

Another from the archive!

By the time I took the this photograph the former DAET Tinsley Automotive Pool of Class 47's had been moved to Bescot and Tinsley closed and the 47's went into the WHBT Class 47 Freight Nationwide Pool of locomotives and as the numbers of 66s accepted into traffic grew these 47s dwindled down.

To get a fromer Railfreight Distribution 47 in these parts was rare at the best of times but in the beginning of 1999 was even more so rare!

This class 47 had worked to Hull with 6E33 20:15 Baglan Bay to Hull Saltend Loaded Chemical tanks from Washward Heath after 37706 had failed. The 47 then went onto work 6D99 07:20 Hull Saltend to Immingham West Reception empty chemical tanks or in this case tank. The move was a way of killing two birds with one stone. On a Monday the loco that was to be used on the Hull Saltend to Baglan Bay flow came fresh of Immingham T.M.D. this flow of acid a throw over from Speedlink that generated 1 maybe 2 tanks at the most would be tripped to Hull and then down to South Wales and the tanks removed at Newport ADJ and then would be forward to Barry Docks for discharge and on a Friday the tanks would be added to the north bound train.

47360 is seen at Brocklesby Junction working 6D99 07:20 Hull Saltend - Immingham West Simon Storage empty acid tanks
