Parvinjun 1972

Parvin.

When she came into my life, some 40 years ago, everything changed for ever. Although thinking was becoming my profession and seemed to be my fate I had, until then, never wasted the faintest thought on something like a steady relationship. And yet, without much transition, without any doubt or fear, we immediately merged and became an entity, something entirely new. Maybe for the first time in my life I had completely abandoned thinking, without the slightest hesitation, abandoned the shining path of reason and followed my heart, which I barely had noticed so far.

Of course, I could never really have known what a wonderful life was lying ahead of us because it was not waiting for us as individuals but for us as something we created the moment we met.

Today I sometimes look back almost in disbelief how this miracle actually happened. But the innate tendency for logical reasoning and analysis of cause and effect has lost its rule over me – in a way she cured me of it, she healed me of this sometimes crippling disease – and I happily sail on, lapping it all up while it lasts.

She was a physicist, a thinker herself, but she is so much more. She came from far away (from Iran) like a force of nature to clear the path for “Us”.
