1L90 1131 Basingstoke-Colchester. from 2000 until 2002 Anglia operated a very useful but sporadic service between Basingstoke and East Anglia (as far as Ipswich) which ran via Woking and Hounslow and then along the north London line via Willesden and Highbury & Islington to Stratford. It was a useful link across London without requiring a change but capacity issues on the North London Line were the reason for the lack of a clockface timetable and only six trains a day in each direction, as the NLL became busier the timetable constraints were insurmountable and the service was withdrawn at the end of September 2002.
