Too Close

The tenuous proximity of New Orleans to the hurricane-protective wetlands south of the city can clearly be seen from the end of the Bayou Coquille trail in Jean Lafitte National Park. With football field-size areas of the coast being lost to coastal erosion daily, South Louisiana's residents dread the yearly onset of hurricane season in June.
