Lower 9th
The ten year memories continue.
I remember having a discussion with my wife in December 2005 regarding stories of the living conditions in the Lower 9th Ward just months after Katrina hit New Orleans. As we lived a short distance away in the Upper 9th (across the Industrial Canal) we were no strangers to the power/water/gas issues plaguing the area, but she was horrified that these were not even options for the few that still had houses across the canal. I explained that until she visited it was hard to explain the magnitude of the infrastructure issue.
To say this drive in January 2006 was sobering for her would be an understatement.
