stampede rig
overall i was pretty happy, but i think will change a few things for next time:
generally less stuff. i was a bit over-prepared with the rear bag and tool kit.
better wheels. this was the lightest wheelset i had on hand, but i think i can do better next time.
side tread tires. as i mentioned, maybe speed cross or travel contacts.
no gps. didn't really need it with such a solid cue sheet combined with the computer.
full kit - i figure there is a reason people wear kits and i might ought to give it a try. i like my surf trunks and all, but they were a bit bunchy in the high heat.
less food - i was tired of everything i brought. sometimes you don't know what you want till you get to a store. the stops were well spaced along the route as well.
more 'roady' set up - i might experiment with lower bars or maybe a more roadish frame at some point.
fitting - i might try to get a pro fitting done. i have some left leg issues that seem to be related to saddle height/position. i thought i had fixed that, but apparently not. that was a big part of the reason i couldn't finish.
