They asked me why I had a camera
I attended Hudson Elementary School in Long Beach, California, in 1969-70. I came back to reminisce and see my home room 7, where I attended classes. These boys saw me and came over and asked me why I had a camera. I told them I used to go to this school when I was 7 years of age. I told them I wanted to document the passage of time; in terms they could understand, so that people in the future can see us and know that we were here, and that we lived in Long Beach. Maybe, perhaps, they would want to be part of it, I asked. They understood and consented to be photographed, and with great enthusiasm and joy. They wanted to be remembered, too. By now, these boys are grown men, perhaps married and with children of their own. I'm glad they will be remembered.
