Lune Rambler
An eccentric tree, with birds (Explore)
This shot squeezed into Explore on the 19 November 2009 (497).
It was also made "Photo of the Day" by Platinum Hearts Group.
This tree stands near the entrance to Hayes Garden Centre on the outskirts of Ambleside, in the English Lake District.
When I first saw it there were many black birds perching on it. As I neared it to take a few shots, I noticed one bird was pecking the back of the neck of another bird; the latter seemed untroubled by this.
My husband thinks it would be to get rid of any lice or similar pest.
As for the tree itself, I think it looks glorious without leaves. Its crazy branches look almost surreal.
Taken on Tuesday on that gloomy overcast day.
