Dutch Christian thrift and practicality

The buildings of the Moe Reformed Church, which was an important part of our lives between 1972 and 1977.

The redundant WW2 Nissen hut on the right was the first building brought to Luke Street and the congregation's first place of worship. The largest church building was also a recycled one, brought from an East Victorian country town in the mid 1960s. The small timber building on the far right was also "bought and brought" here. The toilet block behind it and the manse (from whose flat roof I took the picture) were built on the property. The grounds were always neat and tidy.

The paper bales to the right hold part of the secret of a few hard working people who helped this church survive for many years past its prime.
