the doctrine that all things naturally tend to evil.

the belief that the evil and pain in the world are not compensated for by goodness and happiness.

My initial response to difficulties is usually pessimism. Actually, my initial response is usually sarcasm . . . the poor man's pessimism.
In the end, in most cases, i opt for pragmatism, realism (those are hard to depict though!), or optimism. But pessimism and i are nooooo strangers.
