Wrentit

Online, you will see the comment "Much more frequently heard than seen" about this bird. I know I have at least two pairs of Wrentits as close neighbors and I hear them all the time, but rarely see them. Quietly observing in their thick brushy favored habitat yielded a shot when one of this pair popped up briefly to look around. This species is monogamous and the mated pair hold a small-ish territory and never perform even short distance migrations. They also have a charming habit of snuggling together on a single branch on cool nights - interweaving their feathers and leaning into each other! If they have fledglings, the whole family will snuggle like this. Would love to see THAT.
