EA-6B Prowler
The EA-6B Prowler is a derivative of the A-6 Intruder and first flew in 1968. It was highly specialised for Electronic Warfare and was used to suppress enemy air defences, operating from aircraft carriers.
Capable of carrying AGM-88 High Velocity Anti-Radiation Missiles along with a suite of EM emission detection equipment and electronic countermeasures, the Prowler was highly capable in its role.
About the model:
The Prowler is one of my favourite aircraft designs - it just looks so unreasonably cute! The shape of this aircraft is markedly different from most of the fighters I've designed so far. As such, I went through a number of revisions to get the nose and cockpit looking right. The end result, however, is one of my favourite 1:48 aircraft. It's also bigger than I was expecting for a subsonic carrier-borne attack aircraft - but I guess that makes sense given it has a crew of four and US Carriers are silly big!
