Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education students at MacGregor Elementary ran their own farm stand for the first ever Farmers MarKIDS Day

On May 22, 2014, fifth graders at MacGregor Elementary in Houston sold fresh herbs and produce grown in their school garden the Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™ program with Recipe for Success Foundation. The farm stand was the culmination of the Foundation's Farmers MarKIDS curriculum, which uses the school garden as a model to teach financial literacy. The five-lesson curriculum educates students about business skills, such as entrepreneurship, pricing, budgeting and marketing in addition to providing them with a healthy way to raise funds for their school.

 

Recipe for Success Foundation’s farmers marKIDS curriculum helps children develop financial savvy, entrepreneurial skills and business experience while they make fresh produce easily accessible to their neighbors.
