Cam Henderson Memorial
Cam Henderson was the head football and basketball coach for Marshall University from 1935-1955.
Henderson would coach the football team from 1935-1949. He would win 68 games during that time including 1 conference championship. He would have the benefit of coaching running back Jackie Hunt who would set a college record of 27 touchdowns and be elected into the College Football Hall of Fame. He would also coach Frank Gunner Gatski who would go on to be Marshall's only player to ever be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Henderson had more success as the Thundering Herd basketball coach. He would coach the basketball team from 1935-1955. He would have a career record of 362-159. He would lead the Herd to 3 conference championships and in 1947, lead the Herd to their only national championship when they won the NAIA. He would also help the Herd jump from NAIA to NCAA basketball.
