Ray Duke

Ray Duke was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received a Medal of Honor for his actions on April 26, 1951. While there, he learned of some soldiers that were held down under enemy attack in an area that he was told to leave. He would lead a group of men back into that area under heavy attack to rescue the others. During this search, Duke would be shot 5 times but still marched on. When he was shoot twice in the legs, Duke was unable to walk and was slowing down the troops by having them carry him. He ordered them to leave him and retreat back to safety. The last time he was sen alive was when they put him down and ran back to safety while he was fire into the enemy area. He is buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tn.
