Wonderful Nature

Bladder Campion (Silene vulgaris) Found in the cultivated fields and wastelands of Menorca during spring and summer. In 1685 it became part of the history of the island when a terrible plague of locusts destroyed the crops. Many Menorquins survived the resultant famine by feeding on these plants. Even today it is appreciated in certain parts of the mainland where its tender leaves are eaten either boiled or fried!
