Ha Ha Cemetery
On the drive to Cape Enrage on Hwy 915, we passed this little spot. It was one of those moments where hubby and I just looked at each other in silence for a second then.."Did that just say...?" "Yep I think it did". We made sure to find it on the way back and stopped to look around.
My oldest son said "Well the old clowns have to be buried somewhere!"
It was founded in 1800. The name comes from the Ha Ha (or Haw Haw) River nearby. Legend says the Indians took the name from the call of the Loons.
Off to the side was one grave near the biggest tree.
In Memory of Benjamin Wilbur
who departed this life
December 16, 1827
The deceased was a native of
the State of Rhode Island and
one of the first sailors
of this province.
