RAINTREE COUNTY (1957) - FILM SCORE MONTHLY Restored Original MGM Motion Picture Soundtrack, Two CD-Set. Liner Booklet Notes by Ross Care (Rossano of FLICKr)

Score by JOHNNY GREEN.

Green was the director of the MGM music department in the 1950s. He also conducted musicals such as AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. He did not do many other original scores but his epic RAINTREE COUNTY is a landmark in the field.

The promotional art for the cover is unusual, with Taylor looking rather contemporary. (The film is set in 1800s America). But it is in keeping with the daringly erotic nature of Ross Lockridge, Jr.'s original best selling novel.
