Tim Fairbanks
"Das Bunker"
Original concept and design by Tim Fairbanks - 2004
The renderings in this series were prepared using the now-defunct Lightscape radiosity software.
Before the recent proliferation of Global Illumination (GI) rendering software, Lightscape was the only game in town. It involved a gruelling process of modeling in 3D Studio Max, exporting to Lightscape, generating a lighting solution that required 1-2 days processing time in Lightscape, then exporting and re-importing back into 3dsmax. Extremely time-consuming and technically demanding work, but the results still rival renderings being produced by more advanced software today.
