Scrap Metal Mountain
This is the scrap metal pile at my local dump. Yes, we still have a real "dump", not a sanitary landfill, or an incinerator, or refuse center. We go to the dump. And like the "olden days"... it's a place to say hi to your neigbor, maybe talk a little town politics, or just toss your trash.
There are separate piles for tree branches and leaves, electronics, and scrap metal. Bagged trash gets tossed into a giant (scary) compactor, and there are separate bins for recyling. And you can drop off things that still work and are not broken but that you no longer use at the "Swap Shop." They don't last very long there! Dump picking is still alive and well in Seabrook, NH! ;-)
