A Goodnight Kiss Always Near
.
Once upon a time, as the Man in the Moon looked down upon the Earth,
As he cast his light over the continent of Africa, he peered down, searching for his friend.
Crocodile Cat (a crocodile + a cat), who was the only peculiar creature of his kind in the world.
One head was a cat, and the other head was a crocodile. He lived quietly all alone in a small cave in Africa, where no one had ever found him.
"Are you ever lonely?" the Man in the Moon inquired.
"Oh! Not a bit," replied Crocodile Cat.
"Well! I thought you might be," said the Man in the Moon. "There's no one to kiss you goodnight, is there?"
"Ha! Who says so? You see," Crocodile Cat explained,
"I'm the only creature who always has someone to kiss him goodnight." Look here, I'll show you." And he bent himself into a circle and kissed himself goodnight.
"Goodnight, my dear Crocodile," said the cat head. "Sleep tight."
"Goodnight to you too, Meow," said the crocodile head. "Sweet dreams."
"Mmm!" the Man in the Moon complimented. "It's very useful being a Crocodile Cat, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is. But sometimes there are disadvantages too."
"Oh! What are they?" the Man in the Moon asked.
"Well, for instance, when I walk forwards, what's in front of me is walking backwards. It's enough to give anyone a headache just listening to it. Quite often I don't really know whether I'm coming or going."
"Yes, I can imagine," the Man in the Moon sympathized.
After a little while, Crocodile Cat yawned a great big yawn. "I think I'll have a little nap."
"Goodnight, my dear Crocodile," said the cat head.
"Goodnight to you too, Meow," the crocodile head replied. "Sweet dreams."
