Soay shark station

Gavin Maxwell's shark station Soay Harbour.

There is a slip for hauling the sharks ashore, a steam boiler from an old traction engine for power, large tanks for storing shark flesh and all kinds of interesting things there.

Gavin Maxwell's idea was to process and sell every part of the sharks instead of just the valuable liver oil, which was the practice of all the other shark fishermen at the time.

He tells the fascinating story of this ill fated enterprise in his book Harpoon at a Venture
