Quilt Layout?

Here's a possible layout idea for my daughter's twin-size quilt (66"x88"). I was thinking of putting the 21" plates onto different-colored (teal/fuchsia) polka dot 22" squares, which would make for a perfectly sized twin quilt. My only worries are that this layout is a little too traditional and that the different colors and/or polka dot background fabric may take focus away from the plates themselves...Any thoughts?

 

And that smaller guy in the 3rd column, 3rd row down was on purpose... I was just trying to mix it up :)
