Ghosts of the Iowa Pacific-Bensenville IL #1
I don't know all of the history behind this abandoned equipment but at one time it was acquired by Ed Ellis and his Iowa Pacific holdings. Others have posted their own images of the equipment over the years and I thought I would add these updated ones.
Iowa Pacific and its Chicago Terminal subsidiary which once serviced the industries in Bensenville and adjacent Elk Grove Village are no more. Progressive Rail replaced CTM as the operator with its Chicago Junction (Elk Grove Village) and Chicago St. Paul & Pacific (Bensenville) entities.
The engine and coaches have sat in place at the south end of the industrial park near Foster Avenue for years now, becoming more vandalized and covered in graffiti by the year. I am not sure who, if anyone, owns them anymore.
