So I say this as someone who mostly loves the sequel designs (the T-70 X-Wing may be my favorite Star Wars design ever) but the Y-Wings from Rise of Skywalker bug me. Unlike the Xs (which were inevitable) and the streamlined As (which are cool), the Ys already got a pretty decent redesign with their Clone Wars precursors so retreading them a third time feels egregious. That said, I like the niche Y-Wings tended to fill in spin-off media, as a slightly larger fighter that can be used to add a plus one to the adventuring party. So here's an alternative whipped up based on Force Awakens concept art. More asymmetric wing practice!
