Molly Pitcher Waffle Shop

Chicken and waffles are a thing in this part of South Central Pennsylvania and the Molly Pitcher Waffle Shop, now known as Molly's Restaurant, has been a fixture in downtown Chambersburg, PA for as long as I can remember. This stretch of U.S. Route 11 was once known as the Molly Pitcher Highway, named for an American Revolutionary War heroine, and I assume that's how the restaurant originally got its name. I'd never eaten there until last week, but had only admired the old neon sign that hangs over the place's door, when I finally made the time to venture inside to try some of the chicken and waffles advertised on the sign. I was not disappointed; rich creamy chicken was generously piled high upon a freshly made waffle and quickly arrived at the table served by the friendly waitress. Unique places like this with some history to them seem to be disappearing from the roadside landscape fast so I'm glad I was able to finally explore this gem.
