(formerly) Aunt Helma's

In 1963 this Knoxville, Tennessee landmark along the Asheville Highway, U.S. Route 11E, was one of the first restaurants in the area to end a policy of segregation. I'd love to know if this sign was there then as witness when Helma Gilreath first opened her doors to all; it looks old enough. The place sits empty now.
