spring in winter

Compositionally Challenged Week 1 - Natural Surfaces

While walking the botanic gardens I was surprised to see several bushes/flowers in early bud and bloom. This is not normal for a Denver, Colorado winter. This is a Yulan magnolia that usually buds in late February/early March. Several viburnum shrubs were in full flower. I guess the weeks of 60+ degree days have confused the plants. We might get rain/snow later this week, fingers crossed. : )

CC Most Versatile - EV Settings

Shot with -2/3 EV so as not to blow out the backlighting around the bud. In post I used a Vintage profile which softened the light and color.
