beware the opal birthstone

Opal is October's birthstone, and many believe that it is unlucky to wear, if it's not your birthstone. I had a difficult time photographing these earrings! In direct sunlight the colors and contrast were too harsh, too extreme but in ambient light the colors were too washed out. I finally got the right mix of sunlight and background, and finished with a little Dehaze and positive vignette in post. I just hope next week's theme isn't earrings, lol! The earrings are sitting on amethyst crystal. : )
