Fia GT Budapest City Challenge

Alex Müller made it three in a row during qualifying for the Budapest City Challenge, round 5 of the 2009 FIA GT Championship, when he set a lap of 1:41.815 around the 4.381 km circuit. He will start alongside the nr 14 K plus K Motorsport Saleen S7, Karl Wendlinger having set a time of 1:41.929, one tenth slower than Müller. Enrique Bernoldi placed the nr 8 Sangari Team Brazil Corvette Z06 third, making three different makes in the top three, separated by three tenths of a second.

IN GT2, Richard Westbrook took his second FIA GT pole, after Nogaro last year. It was a good result for the nr 60 Prospeed Competition Porsche 997 GT3 RSR after problems in the last two races. Second-fastest in GT2 was Alvaro Barba Lopez in the nr 51 AF Corse Ferrari 430 GT2, the best qualifying result yet for the young Spaniard in his first FIA GT season. Tim Mullen qualified the nr 55 CRS Racing Ferrari 430 GT2 third, just three tenths off pole, showing that GT2 is every bit as close as GT1 !

Andrej Studenic, in the sole G2 entrant, the nr 112 ARC Bratislava Saleen S7R, qualified an excellent 11th overall, despite this being his first time in the car. The best of the 2010-generation cars was the nr 44 Matech GT Racing Ford GT, Thomas Mutsch at the wheel.
